Good news!

Dougie T felt he didn't have enough to do between working 25 hours a week and being in class 9 hours a week, so he thought he'd apply for the Resident Assistant position that was opening up. Found out Tuesday i got it! First day on the job: Aug. 19, when i'll be escorting new students -- 13 gals and 2 guys -- to their rooms.

As part of the celebration surrounding the graduation tonight of about 15 students, a resident dj is pumping tunes out on the deck overlooking the swimming pool just behind the Lodge where i'm typing this. i came inside after thrashing about for about 2 hours to a nice mix of stuff, including mostly house and trance music for the last hour or so. Nice to party hard without any intoxicants except the joy of being alive!

Talked to Lance and Norio who are stateside on an extended vacation from Japan, and who will be visiting here the three days following Labor Day. Glad to be offer them the much larger room that comes with the RA position. We are gonna have some fun, with at least one day-trip -- beach, forest or mountains? -- in the planning stages.

MAILBAG - God love ya Janet Starkweather, who sent a card (i think written almost exactly the same time i was writing you a postcard -- didja get it yet?) with a big fat check enclosed! Talk about outa the blue! i happened to be just coming from the bank in Garberville to deposit $50 that was eating a hole in my wallet, and as i walked out realized i finally had the time to open the card which had arrived the day before. Nice to have another reason for going back into the bank! Mille grazie, carissima ...

Lots more to tell, but having AGAIN missed the weekly Tuesday post, i thought i'd take the opportunity to check in and let y'all know i'm still alive. Marion's just put on Hollywood Swingers, which looks like my cue to depart!
