Next update comes out on Friday

Folks and faithful followers of The Readership (thank you Lauren, for letting me know with your latest comment that you're still with me!) -- A new beginning calls at least for a new template for the blog, howdoya like it? And i have also changed the time-zone to reflect my new locale, which is currently 3 hours behind east coast US time; 9 hours behind Amsterdam; 10 hours behind Saudi Arabia, and 14 hours behind Japan.

More importantly though will be the big, bold new update coming this Friday: wacky tales of my cross-continent adventures in a '97 Saturn, to which i managed to add 4546 miles. The owner seemed a little grumpy that i hadn't taken a more direct route. Eat your hearts out, jullie Nederlanders en buitenlanders die wonen daar! But i thought fondly of you as i crossed Utah, and tried to imagine how hungrily your jaded eyes would take in that amazing and achingly empty landscape. And Matt Minkin, how DARE you leave the US for a return trip to the land of our meeting without informing me, either in advance or in retrospect?! And don't miss the exciting description of Sandy the Wonder Dog's NEW HOME!

We are so remote here that my mobile phone gets no reception until we get to a certain hill on the way down into town. Most of us receive phone calls at one of the two pay phones in "the Lodge," the place where we take our meals. Call and say hello!
